The book marketing and self-publishing company ReadersMagnet exhibited “Hollywood Dick: The Seedy Adventures of Detective Privado Bandido Jesus Vazquez, The Big Dream Dump (Book I)” by E. Loy Trevino at the Printers Row Book Festival in Chicago. The popular outdoor literary event took place along South Dearborn Street, from Ida B. Wells Drive to Polk Street, on September 12-13, 2026.
“Hollywood Dick: The Seedy Adventures of Detective Privado Bandido Jesus Vazquez, The Big Dream Dump (Book I)” is a hard-boiled mystery thriller set against the gritty backdrop of postwar Los Angeles. The story follows Jesus Vazquez, a restless World War II veteran who traded the quiet life of Monterey's docks for the tumultuous streets of Hollywood. Known for his boxing skills and a face suited for the silver screen, Jesus soon discovered the City of Angels was full of deceit, danger, and dreams that could quickly turn into nightmares.
As a descendant of the notorious outlaw Tiburcio Vasquez, Jesus seemed to attract trouble wherever he went. After a fateful encounter involving murder, a mysterious woman, and his reluctant new role as “Detective Privado Bandido,” Jesus was thrust into a world of shifting identities and perilous schemes. In a city obsessed with glamour and make-believe, he relied on his wits and fists to survive a series of seedy adventures while grappling with his place in a society that saw him as an outsider.
This first installment in “The Big Dream Dump” series promises a blend of raw noir atmosphere, sharp dialogue, and a protagonist whose journey is as compelling as the mysteries he faces.
E. Loy Trevino's journey starts in the colorful swirl of 1960s Detroit, where music, art, and boundless creativity shaped his view of the world.
