Jason's Deli Welcomes New Coach with the 'Dusty Dr Pepper'

Fans can put a buzzy basketball-inspired beverage combination to the test with a $1 fountain drink offer and Jason’s complimentary chocolate soft serve

Jason's Deli Welcomes New Coach with the 'Dusty Dr Pepper'Dallas, TX  (RestaurantNews.com)  As Dallas basketball fans get acquainted with one of the sport’s most talked-about new storylines, Jason’s Deli is inviting guests to weigh in on an equally unexpected debate: Does Dr Pepper belong with chocolate?

Jason’s Deli is putting its own spin on the idea with the “Dusty Dr Pepper,” a coach-inspired menu hack tied to a well-known flavor pairing from his time at Indiana. Based on the long-circulated Midwest pairing of the iconic Texas soft drink and chocolate milk, this limited-time combination pairs a $1 Dr Pepper with the brand’s complimentary chocolate soft serve – creating a rich, dessert-like sip that lands somewhere between a dirty soda and an old-fashioned float.

Whether guests are team “absolutely not” or ready for a second round, the family-owned deli chain is inviting Dallas to put the combination to the test and settle the debate one sip at a time.

“Sometimes the most unlikely flavor combinations are the ones that get people talking,” said Kim Collura, vice president of marketing. “We saw an opportunity to welcome the new head coach to Dallas in a fun way and put a twist on a flavor pairing people already know – elevating it with Jason’s iconic, always-free chocolate soft serve into what we’re calling a ‘Dusty Dr Pepper.’ With our Dollar Dr Pepper Days available online or in the app, it felt like the perfect time to invite guests to try something new, a little nostalgic, a little indulgent and decide for themselves.”

Guests can get a fountain Dr Pepper or Diet Dr Pepper for just $1 when ordering online or through the Jason’s Deli app using code “DollarDP” through June 30, then pick it up and add the chocolate soft serve to create the specialty drink.
