Thousands of employee volunteers get to work helping pets, people and the planet during national day of service

ST. LOUIS, May 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- For 130 years, Purina has been giving back to the communities in which its employees live and work in a variety of ways. One of the company's most impactful philanthropic efforts is its annual employee day of service – Purina Cares Day. What started as a regional effort more than two decades ago has grown into a highly anticipated event for Purina's more than 11,000 US employees. On May 21, associates took part in the company's 25^th annual Purina Cares Day, spending an estimated 5,000 hours volunteering to make a positive difference in the lives of pets and people in need in Purina's 24 operating communities across the country.

The annual Purina Cares Day spans a quarter of a century and focuses on supporting pet welfare agencies, foodbanks, service and therapy dog organizations, nonprofits that serve pets and people in crisis, and projects that revitalize communities. Employee volunteer activities include large-scale mobile food distribution events, animal shelter renovations, personal care kit creation and delivery, riverway clean-ups, outdoor beautification projects, and more.
