Partnership follows record momentum for Maine-based manufacturer as reusable temporary containment gains adoption across U.S. construction markets
BRUNSWICK, Maine, Sept. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- STARC Systems, a leading manufacturer of reusable temporary construction wall systems, today announced a strategic investment from Bertram Capital ("Bertram"), a private equity firm focused on lower middle-market companies. STARC represents Bertram's sixth platform investment in Bertram Capital V. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in Maine, STARC sold its first product in 2014 and has grown from an alternative to traditional temporary drywall into a nationwide provider serving many of the nation's leading contractors and facility owners across healthcare, airports, data centers and other complex construction environments. STARC has sustained approximately 30% annual revenue growth and now employs about 140 people. In 2025, the company received the Governor's Award for Business Excellence in Maine's Heritage Industry category and, in 2026, was named to the Inc. 5000 for the fourth time.
"This is an exciting milestone for STARC and an investment in where we believe this company and this category can go next," said Chris Vickers, President and CEO of STARC Systems. "Our growth has always come from solving real problems for contractors and their customers—helping projects start faster, reducing disruption, raising safety standards and creating a system that can be used again and again instead of thrown away. Bertram shares our belief that reusable temporary walls can become the standard across projects and entire construction portfolios."
STARC's momentum reflects deep and expanding relationships with many of the country's leading contractors, including national organizations standardizing STARC solutions across multiple regions and project portfolios. To support that shift, STARC has expanded its National Accounts team and servicing model. The company has also broadened nationwide access through its direct business, exclusive rental partnership with Sunbelt Rentals and growing Select Partner network.
In May 2026, STARC opened a new 107,000-square-foot manufacturing and operations facility in Brunswick, Maine, expanding its production, warehousing and logistics capabilities to support nationwide demand.
"STARC has established itself as a leader in reusable temporary containment for occupied construction environments," said Chris Brown, Partner at Bertram Capital. "The Company's success reflects a differentiated product portfolio, deep technical expertise in containment performance, and long-standing relationships with many of the country's leading general contractors, healthcare providers, airport operators, and rental partners. We look forward to partnering with Chris Vickers and the STARC team to the next phase of the Company's evolution."
Building the Next Standard in Temporary Containment
As contractors look to improve schedule predictability, reduce labor dependencies and standardize proven systems across projects and geographies, reusable temporary containment is gaining broader adoption. Unlike traditional temporary drywall, STARC wall systems are designed for rapid installation, reconfiguration and repeated reuse across applications ranging from occupied healthcare renovations and airport projects to data center commissioning and large, high-ceiling environments.
"We've spent years proving the value of reusable containment one project at a time," Vickers said. "The next opportunity is bigger. We want contractors to be able to deploy a consistent system across their organizations—one that helps teams work more predictably, gives owners and occupants a better construction experience and creates value every time it is reused. Our partnership with Bertram gives us additional resources to accelerate that vision."
Bertram brings growth investment and operational resources that STARC expects to use to support expansion, strengthen its technology infrastructure, extend its market reach and continue investing in the customer experience.
STARC would like to recognize North Branch Capital, led by Jon Leiman and Nick Johannson, for its support and contributions to STARC's success over the past three years, as well as the investment banking team at Stout, led by Matt Schloop and Mark Abbott, for its efforts in completing the transaction.
